CoCon Authentication
CoCon is a software suite for conference management & assistance, that opens up a host of options and configuration setting to control every aspect of the meeting experience. CoCon is connected to a central conference unit that controls a number of microphones and other conference equipment. The software interacts with the central conference unit to enable various functionalities and views on the conference. That is why CoCon is conceived as a client-server framework. The CoCon Discussion Module serves as the base of the suite and is needed to run other plugin modules.
The Authentication plugin for CoCon enables the use of badges for delegate identification and voting purposes.
For Plixus-enabled devices Mifare badges are mandatory. To link the badge with a delegate from the delegate database, a USB badge reader tool is required (Mifare Badge Reader, 71.43.2002).
A wizard in the meeting manager assists the user in this process. Additionally, authority badges can be created which can be limited in time or used during a specific meeting only.
Once badges are created, various identification and voting authentication mechanisms are available to ensure the validity and security.
Before or during a meeting, delegates can identify themselves to the conference system by inserting their badges. A number of delegate participation mechanisms are available, e.g. assigning delegates to a certain seat (fixed seating) or allowing them to sit anywhere and choose a seat in the conference room (free seating).
